Structural Engineering
We have a highly skilled team of structural engineers and technologists experienced in the assessment, planning, design and retrofit of a diverse range of residential, light industrial, health care, educational, infrastructure and institutional buildings. Our team has experience in a broad spectrum of building types and structures that vary considerably in complexity and size. Many of our projects are located in small and remote communities with challenging site conditions in terms of climate and accessibility.
Custom Architectural Design
Custom Architectural Design
DNA has over 40 years of structural engineering experience in a diverse variety of building projects located throughout Western and Northern Canada and Alaska. Our building project portfolio includes residential developments, educational and institutional buildings, health care facilities, cultural centres, recreation centres, libraries, post disaster facilities, commercial buildings and shopping centres, public art installations.
Our infrastructure portfolio includes vehicle and pedestrian bridges, wharves, boardwalks, water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants and retaining walls.
Many of our building and infrastructure projects are located in remote communities that are subject to harsh climatic conditions, highs seismicity and poor soils that require in depth knowledge of the building code, experience and expertise to ensure that our designs are resilient and effective.
We work closely with Architects to bring our clients visions to life in the form of efficient, attractive and buildable structures. We consistently deliver proven structural solutions that improve building performance, aesthetics, efficiency, and cost.

Seismic Risk Assessments + Upgrading
DNA has extensive experience and expertise in the seismic assessment and seismic upgrading buildings and civil infrastructure including a significant number of Provincial, Federal, and private schools and health facilities.
Our engineers are highly trained and qualified in state of art Seismic Retrofit Guidelines (SRG) developed by the BC Ministry of Education. DNA’s Director of the Buildings Group, Andrew Mill, has been highly involved in the development and implementation of the SRG and is a long-serving member of the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia’s (EGBC ) Seismic Peer Review Committee (Chair) and Technical Review Board.
DNA has very actively been involved in applying the SRG to a wide variety of medium to high seismic risk school facilities located throughout BC and the Yukon. Many of these projects are complex, required innovation approaches in developing phased seismic retrofit schemes in order to minimize disruption to school operations.
