Lil'wat Health + Healing Centre

The Lil’wat Health and Healing Centre is located at Xit’olacw, 10km north east of Mount Currie, 18km east of Pemberton BC. The health centre houses extensive health and wellness programming spaces including twenty-five offices, exam and treatment rooms, Cedar Circle family space, Lil’wat Empowerment Accessibility Program (LEAP), meeting rooms, multi-purpose community health space and kitchen.

The design of the building is a contextual response to the sloping topography of the site, with contemporary cultural reference to the traditional Istken at the building’s focal point, the community health space and exterior community deck. Passive House design concepts were incorporated into the design with emphasis on occupant comfort and high-performance building envelope to minimise energy demand for heating and cooling throughout the building’s life. On completion it is anticipated that the health centre will meet BC Energy Step Code Level 4.
