Leq’a:mel Health Centre

Prior to its construction, Leq’a:mel First Nation did not have a suitable facility where community members could easily access health facilities. Health Care Professionals worked from unsuitable accommodation in temporary locations.

The new Health Centre provides easily accessible and culturally sensitive health care for the community. It allows members of various levels of abilities to access health care close to home and this is particularly important for key groups including elders, pregnant women and children.

The new facility was carefully designed to incorporate many uses in one single building. It provides dedicated spaces such as a large Community Health Room with associated kitchen, Examination and Nurses’ offices.

The design respects the site, maximizes the trees and provides a welcoming building for the community.
