Village of McBride Housing Needs Assessment

The Village of McBride Housing Needs Assessment was developed to meet both the new Provincial requirements for Housing Needs Assessments as well as BC Housing requirements. The Village of McBride, with a population of 616, is in the Robson Valley, 210 km southeast of Prince George BC. The Housing Needs Assessment included a robust community engagement strategy including a Town Hall meeting, a series of focus groups and a community survey. A total of 233 residents (almost 40% of the population) were engaged in the process. The project had a special focus on seniors as they were a group identified by the Village of McBride as having significant unmet housing needs.  The report includes a community profile, a review of the existing housing stock, an economic overview and a housing need summary including housing need by population segment and by type of unit. This project fulfilled the Village’s obligations under Bill 18 – 2018: Local Government Statutes (Housing Needs Reports) Amendment Act, 2018. We are currently working with the Village and BC Housing to develop an affordable housing project there.

A copy of the Final Report is available on the Village of McBride website.
