Nisga’a Lisims Government Building

After decades of negotiations with the Federal and Provincial Governments, the Nisga’a Treaty became effective on May 11, 2000, thereby giving the Nisga’a People control of their own government. The Nisga’a Lisims Government Building was inaugurated on September 2000.

The site for the Nisga’a Lisims Government Building is on a hill above a new residential area south-east of the Old Village of New Aiyansh, with spectacular views of the Nass River Valley and the surrounding lava beds. The building is a two storey structure that gently curves responding to the topography of the site. It provides a welcoming and embracing gesture to those approaching from the main entrance.

The 2,140 m2 (23,000 sft2) program includes offices and workstations for a staff of 60, cafeteria, public gathering hall, and Council Chamber with 50 seats for councillors and another 50 seats for the public.

It’s in our DNA… Engagement. Respect. Expertise.
