Skidegate Band Council Indigenous Housing
In partnership with BC Housing, the Xaayda Naay Haida House Society is developing the project featuring 12 one- and 12 two-bedroom units. The ground floor units will be predominately elders housing while the upper units will be for other members, including families in need. The smaller units featured in the project will also be more affordable for members on a fixed income both in terms of rent and overall operating costs (heating, lighting, etc.).
The housing is located in the community core and offers spectacular views of Hecate Strait. The development features a communal garden, including a medicine garden for the residents. The housing project will be co-located with our health and wellness centre which includes a full range of services for our elders including medical and dental care, counselling, traditional medicine and healing services.
