Matsqui Health + Community House
The Matsqui Health and Community House is located near Abbotsford BC. The building consists of three distinct components; a Health Centre, Community Administration Offices (including a Council Chamber) and a Community Hall, all of which are organized around a common welcome space that opens onto a large community garden.
The design of the building reflects the plank house tradition of the community, but at that same time the exterior reflects the desire of the community to present itself as an active, vital, and sustainable participant of the Abbotsford area. To reflect this vision, the Community House design incorporates extensive use of glass and playful use of traditional siding materials, colours and artwork to create a facility welcoming to all.
