Spius Creek Hatchery Tanks + Wells

The DNA Civil Team provides engineering design and construction review services to the  Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO).

DFO hired DNA to complete the design and construction review at their Spius Creek Hatchery site.  The primary objective of this project was to create additional rearing capacity at the facility by replacing several existing Capilano troughs with new circular rearing tubs. The project also included the retrofitting the existing Capilano troughs water supply and drain and increasing the capacity of the existing aeration tower.

DNA created a full hydraulic model of the supply and distribution system at Spius Creek Hatchery site. The project included some specific challenges such as aquifer yield control, multiple pipe crossing, creating trenches near the hatchery building foundation and Capilano troughs concrete slab, and interfering with an existing rip-rap bank and river intake structure.  DNA produced record drawings for DFO after the project was complete.

It’s in our DNA… Engagement. Respect. Expertise.
