Heiltsuk Shelter Enhancement Program

Although Bella Bella is a major transport link on the Central Coast, connecting Vancouver and Prince Rupert, residents in need of shelter and support services are currently underserviced. For women and children in the Heiltsuk community, the nearest safe house is in Bella Coola, reached once per week via a seven-hour ferry trip.

The proposed 8-room shelter will provide housing and support services to members of the surrounding communities of Bella Coola, Kitasoo, and Wuininuxv, as well as Heiltsuk members.
