Metlakatla Community Road Improvement + Paving
Metlakatla First Nation retained DNA to provide design and construction engineering services for their Community Paving Project. Metlakatla is a small First Nation community of 120 people on British Columbia’s West Coast. The Village of Metlakatla is located on Venn Passage about 10 km northwest of the City of Prince Rupert and is accessible only by water.
The project consisted of designing and constructing road and parking lot improvements, improving drainage, paving existing roads, repairs to existing pavement cracks, filling potholes and repairing pavement edges, curbing, sidewalks, resurfacing shoulders, paving driveways, and paving parking lots at community buildings.
DNA’s scope of work also included the following:
- Compiling mapping and topographic information.
- Addressing public safety, disturbance, and access issues.
- Providing contract administration and inspection during construction.
- Providing Quality Control/Quality Assurance to ascertain the road and parking lot areas meets specifications.
